Streamlining Metro Access: Pune Metro Opens New Entry & Exit Gates for Commuters

In a bid to improve convenience and accessibility for metro commuters, Pune Metro has inaugurated new entry and exit gates at five metro stations, effective from June 15, 2024.

Strategic Location for Smoother Passenger Flow

The newly opened gates have been strategically positioned to facilitate smoother passenger flow, enhance safety, and alleviate congestion during peak hours. Here’s a breakdown of the stations and their corresponding directions:

  • PMC Metro Station: Entry/Exit Gates No. 2 & 3 are located riverside, eliminating the need for passengers to cross the road to access the metro foot overbridge.
  • Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan Metro Station: Entry/Exit Gates No. 2 & 3 are positioned on the opposite side of JM Road.
  • Deccan Gymkhana Metro Station: Entry/Exit Gates No. 2 & 3 are also situated on the opposite side of JM Road.
  • Bopodi Metro Station: Entry/Exit Gate No. 4
  • Kalyani Nagar Metro Station: Entry/Exit Gate No. 3

These strategically located entry and exit points will enable commuters to access foot overbridges without crossing busy roads, significantly enhancing safety and convenience.

Improved Accessibility and Passenger Experience

Previously, passengers disembarking at existing entry/exit points needed to cross roads to reach their desired destinations. With the introduction of these new gates, Pune Metro aims to provide improved accessibility and enhance the overall commuter experience. By distributing passenger flow more evenly, congestion at existing gates, especially during peak travel times, will be reduced.

Enhancing Connectivity and Attractiveness of Metro Travel

These new entry and exit gates will not only provide easier access to nearby landmarks and business districts but will also enhance overall connectivity, making metro travel a more attractive option for commuters. By minimizing the distance passengers need to travel within stations, Pune Metro is dedicated to enhancing convenience and streamlining entry and exit procedures.

Commitment to Passenger Comfort

Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Maha Metro, expressed the significance of these new gates in Pune Metro’s commitment to providing world-class metro services prioritizing passenger comfort and efficiency. Commuters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these new entry and exit points to optimize their metro experience and encourage more people to choose Pune Metro.
