Pune: Identities of two arrested terrorists revealed due to Truecaller

Terrorist Arrest In Pune

PUNE: Two terrorists were arrested in Pune on Wednesday and they were staying in Pune for 18 months. They were accused in the Jaipur serial blast conspiracy. The NIA had announced a prize of 5 lakh each on them and they had been included in the list of most wanted terrorists. The Pune police had no information about them despite the fact that they were staying in the city for 18 months.

It is now known how they were arrested. Policemen Amol Najan and Pradeep Chavan of the Kothrud police were on patrolling duty on July 18. They arrested two persons who were about to steal a two-wheeler. Their accomplice managed to disappear. When they were questioned, they gave Hindu names. However, when their mobile numbers were entered on Truecaller app, their true names i.e. Imran Khan and Mohammad Yunus Saki were revealed. Their aide Mohammad Shahnawaz (32) had disappeared. When his house was searched, the police found cartridges, pistol and other objectionable material. Their laptop was seized.

They were on NIA radar for their involvement in the conspiracy of planning a bomb blast in Rajasthan. They were absconding for 18 months and the NIA had announced a prize of ₹5 lakh each on them. They are connected with Sufa, an organisation linked with ISIS. Both are being questioned by ATS and NIA.

Their questioning is expected to lead to shocking revelations. After this incident, the Pune police have made it mandatory for flat owners to provide information about their tenants. If they don’t do so, then an FIR would be registered against them.
