Pune: As anticipation builds for the Vijay Stambh Manvandana program at Perne Phata on Pune Nagar Road, authorities are proactively taking measures to preemptively address potential traffic issues that may arise due to the significant influx of attendees from Pune, Mumbai, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and other areas in Maharashtra.

To mitigate potential traffic congestion on both lanes of Nagar Road, a special arrangement has been devised. The section of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane on Pune Nagar Road, stretching from Viman Nagar Chowk to Kharadi Old Jakat Naka, will be temporarily opened for normal vehicles traveling to and from the Vijay Stambh during the event. This strategic decision aims to optimize the utilization of the entire area and assist in traffic management.

The proposal has received approval from Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar, and the Managing Director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has endorsed the plan. Beginning from December 31, 2023, to January 1, 2024, this temporary opening of the BRT road section from Viman Nagar Chowk to Kharadi Old Jakat Naka in both lanes is expected to alleviate traffic congestion during the specified period.

This proactive measure is a response to the expected surge in vehicular movement during the Vijay Stambh Manvandana program, a significant event that draws attendees from various parts of the state. By allowing the utilization of the BRT lane, authorities aim to streamline traffic flow and enhance the overall experience for those participating in the event.

The special traffic arrangement showcases the collaborative efforts of Pune’s law enforcement and transportation authorities, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring a smooth and organized flow of traffic during this important occasion.
