Shikrapur, August 4, 2023: A sudden and devastating LPG cylinder explosion shook a residence in Shikrapur, resulting in severe injuries to two individuals. The incident took place on the third floor of a building, leaving one woman and a young man injured and in need of immediate medical attention.
The injured woman has been identified as Vaishnavi Anil Kothalkar, aged 20, a resident of the building. According to officials from the Shikrapur police department, Vaishnavi was in the process of preparing a meal within her home when the unfortunate explosion occurred. The blast, attributed to a gas cylinder leak, was so powerful that it caused Vaishnavi to fall and sustain injuries as she rushed towards safety in the dining area.
The sound of the explosion alerted nearby residents, who quickly rallied to the scene. With the collective efforts of the neighbors, the door to the affected apartment was forcibly opened, and Vaishnavi was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital to receive the necessary medical care and treatment for her burns.
Tragically, the incident did not spare another individual, Prathamesh Raju Sarode, approximately 19 years of age. Prathamesh, who happened to be outside the building at the time of the explosion, also suffered injuries due to the impact of the blast. Both Vaishnavi and Prathamesh were subsequently transferred to a government hospital located in Pune, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment for their injuries.
