Security Vigilance Pays Off: Thieves Caught Red-Handed at Pune Metro Construction Site

In yet another unfortunate incident of theft reported at the construction site of the Pune Metro, three individuals have been apprehended by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police for stealing centring plates used in construction. A case related to this incident has been registered at the Hinjewadi police station.

The three accused, identified as Prathamesh Pamesh Sonawane (22), Dharma Buwaji Bhosale (31), and Mahipya Laxman Patekar, have been taken into custody. The theft occurred at the online construction site of the Pune Metro, near Wakad Bridge in Hinjewadi, at approximately 6:30 am on a Sunday morning. The stolen items consisted of ten centring plates with an estimated value of Rs 5,000.

A case has been registered against the accused individuals under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Hinjewadi Police Station. The authorities are conducting further investigations into the matter.

It is worth noting that the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is overseeing the development of the Metro line between Shivajinagar and Hinjewadi, operating under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Unfortunately, this incident is not an isolated one, as multiple cases of theft have been reported at the ongoing construction site of the Pune Metro in the past. Fortunately, in this instance, the security guard stationed at the construction site was able to apprehend the individuals in the act of stealing construction materials.
