Pune: MCOCA Imposed on Gaikwad Gang to Curb Vehicle Vandalism and Terrorism

Pune, 16th July 2023: In an effort to combat rising crime rates and protect the citizens of Pune, Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has taken decisive action by imposing the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on the notorious Gaikwad gang. This criminal organization has been responsible for spreading terror and engaging in vehicle vandalism within the Sahakarnagar area, leading to widespread fear among the local residents. The imposition of MCOCA signifies the seriousness with which the law enforcement agencies are approaching the issue.

Led by Siddharth Vijay Gaikwad (22), hailing from Annabhau Sathe Colony, Aranyeshwar, the Gaikwad gang consists of several members, including Ram Rajabhau Umap (23), Sunny alias Kiran Kailas Pardeshi (27), Amol alias Nana Jalander Bansode (31), Sameer Razzaq Shaikh (23), Rajabhau alias Jatalaya Laxman Umap (50), Ganesh alias Bhushan Kailas Pardeshi (30), Nabba alias Naresh Sachin Divte (26), Harshad Appa Dhere (22), Shubham alias Dui Anil Taktode (19), Vishal Shivaji Patole (19), Chetan Mahadev Kamble (26), and Gaurav Arvind Naiknaware (22). These individuals have been implicated in numerous criminal activities, with a long list of serious offenses to their name.

The Gaikwad gang has been responsible for at least 14 recorded crimes, all meticulously planned and executed under Siddharth’s leadership. The primary objective of these criminal acts was to establish dominance in the area and reap financial gains. The gang’s activities were concentrated in Sahakarnagar, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Swargate, Dattawadi, Kondhwa, Market Yard, and Bibvewadi areas, causing significant distress to the residents.

The proposal to invoke MCOCA against the gang was put forth by Sahakarnagar Senior Police Inspector Surendra Malale and subsequently forwarded to Additional Commissioner Pravin Kumar Patil through DCP (Zone 2) Smartana Patil. The investigation is being led by ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar, who is determined to bring the gang members to justice.

The operation to impose MCOCA on the Gaikwad gang was conducted under the strict supervision of Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr, along with the support of Joint Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner of Police Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner Smartana Patil, ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar, Senior Police Inspector Surendra Malale, Police Inspector Sandeep Deshmane, and dedicated police personnel including Sanjay Gaikwad, Mangesh Khedkar, Pooja Tidke, and Bhausaheb Aher. Their collaborative efforts reflect the commitment of the police force to ensure the safety and security of the citizens.

Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr, a comprehensive crackdown has been launched against organized criminal gangs operating in Pune. The directive to closely monitor such gangs involved in offenses against individuals and property, with the intention of spreading terror, has been issued to all police officers and personnel. The overarching objective is to eliminate crime from the roots. Consequently, 36 gangs have already faced legal action.

These criminal organizations have been involved in a wide range of crimes, including organized gang activity, violent threats, robbery, theft, possession of deadly weapons, attempted culpable homicide, grievous hurt, unlawful assembly, assault on the public, possession of dangerous weapons, and causing damage to civilian property, among other offenses. The police force remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of the community.

By invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and taking proactive measures against criminal gangs, the law enforcement agencies in Pune are sending a strong message that criminal activities will not be tolerated. This decisive action aims to restore peace and security to the affected areas and create an environment where citizens can live without fear. The ongoing crackdown against organized gangs is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the police force in safeguarding the interests of the public.
