Revolutionizing Pune’s Commute: The Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line

In a promising development aimed at addressing the ongoing traffic congestion woes in Pune, the Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Chandrakant Patil, has announced that the Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Pune Metro Line-3 will greatly benefit approximately 4 lakh commuters. This significant announcement came during a crucial review meeting held at Pune Airport, where key officials discussed the progress and impact of this vital infrastructure project.

The meeting was graced by the presence of influential figures, including Rahul Mahiwal, the Commissioner of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA); Vikas Dhakne, the Additional Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation; Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Pune IT City Metro Rail; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar.

During the meeting, Kapoor provided a comprehensive overview of the metro route, highlighting its significance. The Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar line stretches over approximately 24 kilometers and encompasses a total of 23 stations, with 16 stations currently under active construction. The entire project is estimated to cost around Rs 8,313 crores.

According to recent surveys, an impressive 1.4 lakh citizens rely on this specific route for their daily commute. The new metro line is expected to not only alleviate the traffic situation but also provide a seamless transition for commuters at pivotal stations like Shivajinagar and Civil Court, seamlessly connecting them to other parts of the city through the Mahametro service. Kapoor further disclosed that the project has already achieved a remarkable 45% completion rate.

Minister Patil expressed his contentment with the progress made on Pune Metro Line-3 and reassured attendees of the government’s unwavering support in facilitating the swift completion of the project. He also underscored the importance of supplementary amenities, such as parking facilities and enhanced bus services to metro stations, to encourage greater citizen participation and utilization.

Minister Patil emphasized that the first phase of the Mahametro project has garnered a positive response from the public, and ongoing efforts are being made to implement PMPML bus services that seamlessly connect residential areas to metro stations. By reducing the time and effort required to access metro stations and by offering convenient parking solutions, the project aims to elevate its overall success and benefit the community at large.
