Reuniting Families: Government Railway Police’s Compassionate Endeavor in Pune Division

Government Railway Police: Rescuing and Reuniting Children in Pune Division Pune, 3rd August 2023: The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Pune has been actively engaged in the noble cause of rescuing and reuniting children who have left their families for various reasons. The vigilant teams of the railway police have been rescuing these children, who travel to different cities from various railway stations, in pursuit of a glamorous life or due to disputes with their family members. These rescued children are then counselled and eventually reunited with their families.

As per the latest data, the Pune division of GRP has successfully reunited 198 such children between January and July 2023. Among them, 75 boys and 62 girls were joyfully reunited with their families. Additionally, 39 boys and 22 girls were placed in the care of registered non-profit organizations for their safety and well-being.

The ordeal these children face is often unimaginable, as they can become victims of trafficking or even sexual assault. However, the diligent efforts of the railway police, in collaboration with various organizations, have proved to be instrumental in tracing and counseling these vulnerable children to ensure their safe return to their families.
