Residents Rejoice: Pune’s NIBM Anandvan Parisar Launches Pocket-Friendly Bus Route to Pune Station

In a delightful twist of fate on Dussehra, residents of NIBM Anandvan Parisar have a reason to celebrate the successful launch of an eagerly awaited bus route, now connecting Pune Station to Ganga Florentina Society, all for a mere fare of Rs 20. This achievement comes after six months of unwavering efforts by the NIBM Anandvan Parisar Residents Association (NAPRA), who diligently followed up with PMPML officials and their local Corporator.

The joyous inauguration of this long-awaited bus route was marked by a traditional Pooja ceremony, symbolizing the realization of their tireless endeavors.

Nitin Bokey, President of NIBM Anandvan Parisar Residents Association, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the residents, emphasizing how this extended bus route will enhance transportation convenience, adding to the festive spirit of Dussehra and securing a brighter future for the NIBM Anandvan Parisar neighborhood. He mentioned that, for now, the bus runs once every two hours from 6 a.m., but they expect the frequency to increase over time, along with additional bus routes to different parts of the city.

Vijay Yenpure, a resident, highlighted the significance of public transport, explaining how it plays a pivotal role in the local economy and benefits the environment. He emphasized the need for both the people and the government to promote the use of public transport, as it is cost-effective and contributes to fuel savings and environmental benefits.

Dattatray Zende, a PMPML Officer, discussed how they responded to the residents’ demand for bus routes in the area. They conducted surveys to determine the requirements and allocated the route and frequency accordingly. As more people opt for buses, the frequency is expected to increase.

The residents of Mohammadwadi have long grappled with the lack of public transport, often resorting to higher-cost options like cabs and auto-rickshaws due to the dearth of affordable alternatives. The introduction of increased public transportation may not only reduce the number of personal vehicles on the road but also contribute to a reduction in air pollution and traffic congestion.
