Residents Express Concern Over PMC Contractor’s Damage to Trees Near Marvel Sangria and Dorabjee Paradise in Mohammadwadi

Residents of Mohammadwadi are raising alarm over the poor workmanship of a PMC contractor near Marvel Sangria and Dorabjee Paradise. Concerns have been voiced regarding the damage inflicted on trees lining the newly constructed road, where cement has encroached upon their barks, potentially jeopardizing their health.

Social media platforms have been inundated with posts lamenting the inadequate planning and execution of the roadwork. Users have pointed out that the cementing of tree barks could impede the absorption of rainwater, posing a threat to the survival of these trees, some of which are over 50 years old.

Netizens have expressed frustration over what they perceive as negligence on the part of the PMC and contractors. Many have criticized the lack of proper oversight and raised questions about the quality of work being carried out.

In response to the public outcry, Parveen Tambe, Founder Member of the NIBM Undri Residents’ Forum, has taken up the issue with the PMC and the contractor. Assurances have been given that corrective measures will be implemented, including creating open spaces around the trees to prevent further damage.

PMC Road Department Official Gautam Gavand affirmed that instructions have been issued to the workers to ensure that adequate space is left around each tree, ranging from 1 to 1.5 feet, to mitigate the impact of the construction on their health.

Efforts are underway to rectify the situation and address the concerns of residents, with ongoing communication between community representatives and civic authorities to ensure the timely resolution of the issue.
