Pune’s New Top Cop Unveils 7-Point Blueprint for Safer Streets

In a bid to ensure safer streets and uphold law and order, Pune City’s newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, has introduced a robust seven-point program. The initiative encompasses evidence-based enforcement of traffic rules, VIP security, combating cybercrimes, and protecting vulnerable community members, with a strong emphasis on implementing the helmet law for two-wheeler riders.

Helmet Enforcement Takes Center Stage:

Commissioner Kumar, a seasoned IPS officer with a wealth of experience, aims to lead Pune City with a focus on evidence-based law enforcement. He emphasized the legal requirement for two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and four-wheeler riders to use seat belts. The commissioner asserted that stringent actions would be taken against those violating these rules, emphasizing the need for a robust deterrent to curb law-breaking.

The commissioner highlighted the consequences for various traffic violations, including driving on the wrong side of the road and triple-seat riding. Special attention will be given to address traffic congestion at identified bottlenecks through targeted strategies.
