Legal Quagmire for Bajaj Allianz House: PMC to Uncover the Truth Behind Seventh-Floor Construction

In response to a complaint lodged by Anjali Patil, former vice-chairperson of Bajaj Allianz House Condominium (BAHC), the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged illegal construction on the seventh floor of the condominium in Yerwada. The complaint, filed on January 24, accuses the management committee of serious mismanagement, money laundering, and unauthorized construction.

The issue came to light when Pune Times Mirror highlighted the condominium’s legal troubles in its January 26 edition under the headline ‘Complex in the dock.’ Patil’s complaint points out significant irregularities in the functioning of the management committee, including the absence of audit reports, elections, and monthly meetings over the last three years. She also alleges improper appointments and a lack of transparency in financial matters.

According to Patil, the seventh-floor construction was carried out without proper permission, turning the area into an executive lounge where liquor is served. This, she claims, violates regulations as it is considered a common area and not the property of the company. In response to the complaint, PMC official Eknath Gadekar confirmed that their team of engineers and experts would be visiting the site to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Gadekar stated, “Our team of engineers and experts will be visiting the area soon and investigate the matter. After that, a report will be submitted.” However, there seems to be a discrepancy within the PMC, as city engineer Prashant Waghmare denied receiving the complaint, emphasizing the need to verify the information.

An anonymous PMC official mentioned that, based on the investigation report, if necessary, a notice would be issued to BAHC to hear their perspective. The final decision will be made by superiors in accordance with the law. Simultaneously, a separate case has been filed against the BAHC management committee with the deputy registrar of the cooperative society for alleged mismanagement and misappropriation of funds.

As the PMC gears up to probe the alleged illegal construction, concerns regarding governance and financial transparency at Bajaj Allianz House Condominium continue to deepen.
