Pune’s Eklavya College to Pune-Bengaluru Highway: Missing Link Set to be Completed Soon

Residents and commuters in Pune can soon expect a significant improvement in their daily travel as the pending road linking Eklavya College in Kothrud to the Pune-Bangalore highway is set to be completed shortly. This crucial 15-meter-wide road, identified as a missing link under the Municipal Development Plan, is nearing completion, with only a 100-meter stretch left to be constructed.

The impending completion of this road holds great promise for motorists, as it will substantially reduce travel time, transforming a journey that currently takes between 25 to 30 minutes, involving detours via Paud Road and Mahatma Society, into a mere five-minute drive.

An official from the road department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) revealed that out of the 33 identified missing links, work on this crucial road connection is now a top priority. Once completed, it will provide a vital artery for commuters, easing congestion and streamlining traffic flow in the area.

Currently, vehicles traveling from Kothrud and Karve Putala to Warje and Chandani Chowk are compelled to navigate through Mahatma Society or Paud Road, often encountering heavy traffic congestion. Recognizing the need for a more direct route, the PMC initiated the development of a DP road from Ashish Garden to Eklavya Mahavidya a few years ago.

However, the final 100-meter stretch leading to the highway remained incomplete due to space constraints. Efforts are now underway to acquire the necessary land and resume construction under the ‘Missing Link’ project.

With possession secured from landowners, construction work on this vital roadway segment is expected to commence imminently. Once completed, commuters will enjoy seamless access from Eklavya College directly to the Pune-Bangalore highway, marking a significant milestone in the city’s infrastructure development efforts.
