Pune’s Bhimashankar Temple Access Partially Affected Due to Road Segment Collapse

Pune: Ambegaon taluka in Pune district witnessed a partial road collapse on Monday, impacting the approach road to the revered Bhimashankar temple. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The mishap occurred during the early hours, between 2 and 3 a.m., at Bodkiche Lavan near Newalwadi village, which is situated approximately 6 kilometers from Ghodegaon, the nearest town, and about 80 kilometers from Pune city. The road section that collapsed has temporarily disrupted traffic to and from the popular pilgrimage site.

Authorities from the Ghodegaon police station, falling under the Pune Rural jurisdiction, immediately responded to the incident. They have assured that there were no casualties or injuries, providing some relief amid the potential hazards of such an event.

Officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) have visited the site to assess the damage and devise a plan for repair. Currently, repair work is in progress to restore the road to its previous state.

Bhimashankar temple, an important religious destination, attracts numerous devotees and tourists throughout the year. The accessibility to the temple is crucial for pilgrims who seek to pay their respects and fulfill their religious obligations.

While the cause of the road collapse is yet to be determined, authorities are thoroughly investigating the matter to identify the contributing factors. Road infrastructure maintenance and safety measures are crucial components of ensuring the safety and convenience of travelers.
