In a significant operation aimed at curbing illegal drug activities, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police has made a breakthrough arrest and seized a substantial quantity of Marijuana plants with an estimated worth of Rs 1.96 lakh. The operation led to the apprehension of an individual identified as Dhanesh Aniruddha Sharma, who hails from the Gopalganj district of Bihar but was residing in the Pimple Nilakh area of Pune.
The operation was initiated based on crucial information received by the officials of the Anti-Narcotics Cell, a specialized unit within the Pimpri Chinchwad Police’s Crime Branch. The tip-off indicated that a person was in possession of a significant quantity of Marijuana plants, totaling approximately 12.462 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Rs 1,96,930. This information prompted the police team to take swift and decisive action.
In a well-coordinated operation, the police laid a strategic trap and subsequently conducted a raid on a residence located in the Pimple Nilakh area, where the suspect was believed to be operating his illegal operation. As a result of this operation, Dhanesh Aniruddha Sharma was apprehended, and authorities confiscated two Marijuana plants that were found on the premises.
In response to these developments, a formal case has been registered at the Sangvi Police Station, with charges filed under sections 8(b) and 20(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). These sections of the NDPS Act pertain to the illegal possession and production of narcotics, reflecting the seriousness of such offenses.
The investigation into this case is actively ongoing, as authorities work diligently to uncover any potential links or networks associated with this illegal Marijuana cultivation and distribution operation.
