Pune: On the grand occasion of Air Force Day, Pune played host to an exhilarating aeromodelling spectacle at the Fergusson College Ground. Organized by the Deccan Education Society and led by Sadanand Kale and Atharva Kale from Satara, this event treated attendees to a mesmerizing display of 15 aeroplanes and 7 fighter planes, including iconic aircraft such as the MiG-21, MiG-29, Sukhoi, Tejas, Jaguar, and trainer planes from the Indian Air Force (IAF).

A Flight of Technological Marvels

The live demonstration of radio-controlled aircraft models left the audience spellbound, offering them a firsthand experience of cutting-edge technology while imparting invaluable lessons in precision, patience, and courage. This remarkable event served as a window to high-cost technology and innovative marvels, igniting fresh scientific ideas and inspiring the young minds in attendance.

Celebrating Air Force Day

The festivities were in perfect harmony with Air Force Day, a day that commemorates the official establishment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on October 8, 1932. Each year, this significant occasion is marked in the presence of the IAF chief and esteemed senior officers. The IAF was originally conceived as a support force for the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom in 1932, with its inaugural operational squadron taking flight in 1933.

A Legacy of Passion and Innovation

At the heart of this remarkable aeromodelling show is Sadananda Kale, a fervent aeromodeller who carries forth the legacy of three generations dedicated to this craft. His journey commenced in 1978, with the creation of waste-free, rubber-powered flying aircraft. He achieved a significant milestone by crafting a radio-controlled model of the Rafale fighter jet, a testament to his boundless passion and innovation in aviation. His fervor for aeromodelling finds its roots in his father, a science teacher with a profound interest in this captivating field, thereby bequeathing a legacy of aviation innovation.
