Pune: Youth washed away in floods, be cautious on trek in rainy season

Pune: A video clip has gone viral on social media, in which some picnickers are seen stranded in flood water at a picnic spot near Junnar in the district. A youth from them can be seen washed away in the flood. A group of people got stuck as there was a sudden downpour. Later, the youth was traced and was reported to be safe.

According to the details, the incident happened at the Kalu waterfall near Malshej Ghat. The group of tourists was stranded as a brook they were trying to cross suddenly got flooded. Local residents helped the tourists and rescued them. The youth was washed away in the flood. However, he was stated to be safe.

Netizens expressed their outrage over the incident and advised people to take care while going on a trek.

It is advised that trekkers should seek help from local residents while trekking during the rainy season. There are many rivers, brooks and valleys in the Sahyadri ranges. Strangers do not have any idea about dangers lurking at these places. Eventualities happen at such places. Moreover, landslides also take place. Therefore, tourists need to take care.
