Pune: Youth Sharing Pictures With Weapons on Social Media to Create Terror Arrested, Cases Registered

In a significant development, the Crime Branch Unit 5 of Pune City Police has successfully apprehended two youths for their alleged possession of weapons and sharing pictures of themselves with these weapons on social media platforms. The arrested individuals have been identified as Arshad Sharif Patel (21) and Umar Salim Shaikh (19), both residents of the Uruli Devachi area. They were arrested by the police in separate cases in Hadapsar.

According to the police, the Crime Branch officials received information during a combing operation on July 8 about two men possessing weapons in the Birajdarnagar and Mohammadwadi Road areas of Hadapsar. Acting promptly on the inputs, a police team led by Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam of the Crime Branch conducted raids at both locations, resulting in the arrest of the accused.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the arrested individuals had shared pictures on their social media profiles, brandishing weapons, with the intent to create a sense of terror among the citizens in the area.

The police have confiscated two sharp weapons from the possession of the accused. Two separate cases under the relevant sections of the law have been registered at the Hadapsar and Wanawadi Police Stations in connection with the matter. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
