Pune: Maha Yuti-BJP Lok Sabha candidate Murlidhar Mohol has expressed confidence that the Pune Railway Station will be expanded considering the needs for the next 20 years. Its connectivity with other cities will grow.

He was speaking at a poll rally organised in the Khadki Cantonment area to campaign for Mohol. MLA Siddharth Shirole, former MP Sanjay Kakade, former Dy Mayor Sunita Wadekar, Prakash Dhore, Datta Khade, Parshuram Wadekar, Mukesh Gawli, Anand Chhajed, Kartiki Hivarkar, Duryodhan Bhatkar, Vijay Velhekar, Harshad Bodke, Pravin Gaikwad, Dharmesh Shah, Nitin Shinde and Dr Ajay Dudhane were present.

Mohol said, “The Pune, Shivajinagar, Khadki, Dapodi and Hadapsar railway stations have been developed in the past decade keeping the passenger at the centre. The Pune Railway Station has six platforms and 72 trains depart from them while 41 local train services take place daily.

“The daily passenger count is 1.5 lakh. Four new platforms of 750 m length and two new platforms of 600 m length for local trains will be built. Thus, 300 trains will pass through the Pune Railway Station daily while the number of passengers will grow up to three lakh.”

“Thus Pune will be connected through the third and the fourth route. Currently, the Pune to Wadi route survey is underway while the state government has made allocations in the annual budget for the third and fourth route between Pune and Lonavala.
