Pune: A youth raped a minor girl after befriending her on Instagram. The incident took place on December 22 afternoon at a lodge in Deccan Gymkhana. The 20-year-old youth has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The victim’s 42-year-old mother lodged a complaint at the Deccan Gymkhana Police Station on Monday. The accused, Sanket Chavan (20), has been booked under sections 376 and 506 of the IPC and sections 4, 6, 8, and 12 of the POCSO Act.
According to the police, the complainant’s 17-year-old daughter and the accused got to know each other on Instagram. The accused befriended her. Later, he took her to a lodge in the Deccan Gymkhana area. He told her that he had taken a tablet to increase his sex power and demanded sexual favours from her. He scared her saying that if she refused, he would die. She refused to have a sexual relationship with him. Then he forced her to have it.
