Pune Woman Duped of Rs 87 Lakh in Investment Scam, Restaurant Owner Faces Legal Action

In a distressing incident, a 32-year-old woman residing on NIBM Road in Kondhwa, Pune, has been cheated of Rs 87 lakh 47 thousand in an investment fraud case. The complaint has led to the registration of a case against the owner of ‘Hotel Botanica Greenbar and Restaurant’ at Bund Garden Police Station. The accused, identified as Sujan Sampat Kedare, is facing charges under Sections 406, 419, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complainant alleges that she was enticed with the promise of partnership and shares in the hotel business if she invested in ‘Botanica Greenbar and Restaurant.’ According to the FIR accessed by Pune Pulse, the accused, Sujan Kedare, introduced the woman to his hotel business and a company named ‘Peacemill Hospitality LLP’ in 2021.

The complainant agreed to invest Rs 87 lakh 47 thousand with the expectation of receiving a 35% partnership share in return. Despite several meetings, the promised partnership agreement was not executed. The hotel, ‘Botanica Greenbar & Restaurant,’ started its operations in the Raja Bahadur Mill premises on Bund Garden Road. However, the complainant did not receive any returns on her investment, and the principal amount was not refunded.

Upon realizing that she had been defrauded, the woman filed a case with the Bund Garden police. The accused, Sujan Kedare, now faces charges related to criminal breach of trust, cheating, and fraud. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the details of the fraudulent activities.
