Pune: Woman, accomplice arrested for looting youth after being acquainted on dating app; Action taken by Social Security Cell (Video)

PUNE: The Social Security Cell (SS Cell) of the Pune police has arrested two persons for looting a youth after getting acquainted on a dating app and asking him to book a room in a hotel. The accused hail from outside the state and they were arrested from Turbhe in Navi Mumbai.

The accused used to attract people via a dating app, Seeking Adventure and used to chat with them. They used to send photos of girls and ask them to book room in a hotel. Later, they used to collect the pre decided amount in the online mode and later used to collect additional money forcibly and steal ornaments. An FIR has been registered at the Chandan Nagar police station against an unidentified man and woman.

While carrying out an investigation, it became clear that the accused were committing crimes by hiding their identity. The SSC carried out a technical probe of various electronic gadgets used by the accused and arrested a woman (21), a resident of Uttarakhand and her aide (25), a resident of Delhi from Turbhe in Navi Mumbai. They were questioned and they admitted their involvement in the crime. The accused have been handed over to the Chandan Nagar police station.

During the preliminary investigation, the police came to know that they had looted many people in Pune city and other cities by asking them to book rooms in famous hotels. The police have issued an appeal that if such an incident has happened with anyone, they should contact the SSC.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende by Senior PI Bharat Jadhav, API Rajesh Malegave, ASI Rajendra Kumavat, policewoman Sagar Kekan,Manisha Pukale, policemen Tushar Bhivarkar and Imran Nadaf.
