Pune: Will the immersion procession end early this year? Police to ensure that other mandals also join the procession immediately

PUNE: This year, the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandal has decided to join the immersion procession earlier than usual. Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar said in a press conference on Tuesday that after the procession of Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandal departs from the Belbaug Chowk, efforts will also be made to ensure that other main mandals also join the procession immediately.

The Ganeshotsav, which has a rich tradition and history, will come to an end on Thursday (August 28). Various mandals will join the immersion procession from Laxmi Road, Tilak Road, Kumthekar Road and Kelkar Road. There will be a huge bandobast in the city due to the immersion procession. CP Ritesh Kumar gave information about the bandobast during the press conference on Tuesday. Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, DCP (Special Branch) R Raja, DCP (Traffic) Vijay Kumar Magar, DCP (crime) Amol Zende, DCP of zone Sandip Singh Gill were present.

From various routes in the city, 3,865 mandals will join the immersion procession. In the city and suburbs, 8,500 police personnel will be deployed. A team of CRPF will be present for the bandobast.

Jawans of the Home Guards and Police Mitra will provide help during the bandobast. The main immersion procession on Laxmi Road will be monitored by 205 CCTV cameras.

A team from the BDDS and a team from QRT will be present during the bandobast. A meeting had been organised with the office-bearers of the mandals to prepare plans for the immersion procession. CP Ritesh Kumar said that the police are making efforts to ensure that the immersion procession finishes early.
