Pune: Veteran classical vocalist Prabha Atre to step into 92nd year; Public felicitation programme on September 12

PUNE: For many decades, veteran classical vocalist Dr Prabha Atre has entertained us and the listeners are mesmerised by her singing. She is going to step into her 92nd year and she is going to be felicitated at a public event.

A felicitation programme has been jointly organised by Apla Parisar, Tarangini Sanskrutik Pratishthan and former leader of the opposition Ujjwal Keskar of Dr Prabha Atre who has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan Award. The event will be held at Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium on September 12 at 5.30 pm. The information was given by Chief of Tarangini Sanskrutik Pratishthan and senior classical vocalist Shounak Abhisheki and Chief of Apla Parisar Mahesh Panse at a press conference.

Abhisheki said, “Prabha Atre would be felicitated by Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil and former MLA Ulhas Pawar will be the Chief Guest. After the felicitation, Atre’s disciple Ashwini Modak and Pandit Anand Bhate will render classical songs. A documentary on the musical journey of Prabha Atre would be shown. A book consisting of articles about Atre’s contribution in various fields will also be released. The programme will not have an entry fee and Abhisheki and Panse have appealed to Puneites to attend the programme in large numbers.
