Pune Vehicle Vandalism: Parvati Police Takes Action Against Minors and Parents

The Parvati Police in Pune have initiated legal proceedings against nine minors and their parents following a case of vehicle vandalism reported in the Dandekar Bridge area.

According to Pune Police sources, a case was registered at the Parvati Police Station on March 18, 2024, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Motor Vehicles Act, and Maharashtra Police Act. The incident involved the vandalization of motorbikes by a group of nine children who arrived on three bikes in the Dandekar Pul Nav Maharashtra area.

Upon receiving instructions from senior officials, the Parvati Police swiftly took action, detaining all the minor children involved in the crime. Legal action was taken against them, along with Bhavesh Deepak Chavan, a 21-year-old resident of Ravivar Peth, Pune, who allegedly provided weapons to the minors.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the children were allowed to operate the vehicles by their parents, despite being minors without valid driving licenses. Consequently, the parents have also been implicated in the crime and face legal repercussions.

All motorbikes used in the vandalism have been confiscated, with the police issuing a stern warning that strict legal action will be taken against any minors found engaging in similar criminal activities in the future. This includes not only the minors but also their accomplices and parents.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police, West Regional Division, Pravin Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-3, Sambhaji Kadam, among others. The Parvati Police Station Senior Police Inspector, Nandkumar Gaikwad, led the investigation, supported by a dedicated team of officers including Police Sub-Inspector Sachin Pawar and several police constables.
