Pune Traffic Police Harnesses WhatsApp for Swift Resolution of Traffic Violations

Pune, India – In a bid to enhance community involvement in maintaining road safety and discipline, the Pune Traffic Police has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp number for reporting traffic-related complaints. With the number +91 80872 40400 now in operation, residents are urged to save and share it within their communities, facilitating the quick reporting of violations.

Previously, traffic-related complaints were directed to the Commissioner of Pune Police’s general WhatsApp number, designed for non-traffic matters. These complaints were then forwarded to the traffic police for appropriate action. Recognizing the need for a more streamlined approach, the Pune Traffic Police initiated a dedicated WhatsApp number to directly receive complaints about signal jumping, rule violations, and accompanying photographic evidence.

The introduction of this integrated WhatsApp number aims to expedite the reporting process and enable the traffic police to respond promptly to incidents, fostering a safer and more disciplined road environment.

In January 2024, the Pune Traffic Police took a proactive step to encourage citizens to actively contribute to road safety by creating the dedicated WhatsApp number. By saving the number in their contacts, residents can play a crucial role in upholding traffic safety standards and fostering a culture of adherence to traffic rules.

The initiative emphasizes the importance of community participation in the collective effort to ensure road safety. By leveraging the convenience of WhatsApp, the traffic police aim to create a seamless channel for citizens to report incidents, ultimately contributing to the overall improvement of traffic discipline in Pune.
