Pune Accident News

Pune: In a devastating incident on Sinhagad Ghat Road, a jeep shuttle carrying 10 to 15 tourists overturned on Sunday, resulting in serious injuries to approximately 10 to 12 tourists. After learning about the incident, the forest department and the police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, no fatality was reported in the accident.

On Sunday, 17th, Sinhagad was bustling with a large turnout of tourists. With the arrival of the rosy winter and public holidays, a large number of tourists flocked to the Sinhagad for trekking as well as touring on weekends. Amidst this, yesterday, at around 4 to 5 p.m., a tourist transporting jeep overturned on the descending slope of the Sinhagad Ghat road.

Based on initial assessments, the accident occurred due to the wintery road’s foggy conditions. This caused the driver to lose control of the Jeep and have a sideways collision with a tree. The impact of the collision was so severe that the Jeep overturned subsequently. It is said that, at the time of the accident, 10 to 15 tourists, including the driver, were present inside the jeep, of whom 10 to 12 had been seriously injured in the accident. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, passing vehicles and other people gathered at the scene and helped the people get out of the jeep. As soon as authorities were informed about the accident, a team of the forest department and the police immediately rushed to the spot and immediately admitted the injured tourists to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Because of the growing influx of visitors to the tourist destination, a jeep service has been initiated on the Sinhagad Ghat road, facilitating transportation for tourists between the base and the fort and vice versa. However, the recurring incidences of accidents on this road in recent days have raised numerous questions about passenger safety while travelling through these tourist transport jeeps.
