Pune, Maharashtra – From February 9 to 11, 2024, cinephiles in Pune will be treated to a cinematic extravaganza as the National Film Archive (NFAI) hosts the ‘Cinemas of India – A Festival of Contemporary Indian Films.’ Organized by Pune International Centre (PIC), the International Federation of Film Critics – India Chapter (FIPRESCI-India), and NFDC-NFAI (National Film Development Corporation-National Film Archive of India), the festival aims to bring forth a selection of twelve award-winning Indian films from various linguistic landscapes.
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for the opening day, will be graced by Mr. Premendra Mazumber, General Secretary of FIPRESCI-INDIA, and Mr. Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Films) at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The festival lineup spans a rich diversity of languages, featuring films in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Manipuri-Tangkhul, Rajasthani-Hindi, and Khasi-Jaintia-Garo-Hindi. Each day of the festival will showcase a curated selection of films, providing audiences with a unique and immersive experience.
