Lonavala, 8th July 2023: Tata Power, a leading integrated power company in India, reaffirms its commitment to a greener and more sustainable future through its recent tree plantation drive. The company organized the event at its Walwan Dam site in Lonavala, where over 400 saplings were planted by senior officials from the Maharashtra Government. The initiative, known as ‘Tata Amrutvan’, was conducted to mark the ‘Kartavya Kaal’ and was attended by esteemed individuals including Shri B Venugopal Reddy, Principal Secretary for Forest Department, Government of Maharashtra, Shri YLP Rao, PCCF & Head of Forest Force, Mr. Prabhakar Kale, Chief – Hydros at Tata Power, Mr. A. G. Patil, CEO – WREL, and other senior delegates.

Recognizing the importance of nature conservation, Tata Power embraced the recently renamed ‘Amrut Kaal’ as ‘Kartavya Kaal’, aligning with India’s vision to fulfill its duties over the next 25 years of Independence.

For over five decades, Tata Power has taken immense pride in its extensive tree plantation program at Walvan. In addition to the Mahseer conservation project initiated in the 1970s, this latest initiative aims to enhance the region’s green cover and support the flourishing local flora and fauna. The program’s objectives include preventing soil erosion, creating livelihood opportunities for nearby communities, and collecting and documenting data for educational and research purposes. Last year, with a heightened focus on afforestation, Tata Power successfully planted over one million saplings across the Western Ghats region.

The tree plantation drive organized by Tata Power exemplifies the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability and demonstrates the power of collective action in preserving and enriching our natural resources. The event serves as a reminder of the importance of corporate responsibility in fostering a greener and healthier planet for generations to come. Tata Power continues to lead by example, inspiring other organizations and individuals to join the noble cause of conservation and contribute to a sustainable future.
