Pune: Supriya Sule Mourns Tragic Girder Collapse Incident in Thane That Claimed 17 Lives

Pune: In a devastating accident, at least 17 people lost their lives when a girder launching machine collapsed in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Tuesday. The incident occurred during the construction of the third phase of the Samruddhi Expressway at Khutadi Sarlambe village in Shahapur tehsil.

The mishap has left the local community and authorities in shock, as rescue teams rushed to the site to search for survivors and provide medical assistance to the injured. The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols in large-scale construction projects.

Expressing her grief over the tragedy, Supriya Sule, the NCP Working President and MP from Baramati, conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families. She took to Twitter to express her concern and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The Samruddhi Expressway, is a significant infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and economic growth in the region. The third phase of the project involves the construction of critical infrastructure to support the highway’s development.

While authorities investigate the cause of the girder collapse, questions are being raised about safety measures and adherence to regulations on construction sites. Accidents of this nature underscore the importance of robust safety protocols in mega infrastructure projects, especially those involving heavy machinery and equipment.
