Pune: State Excise department foils sale of foreign liquor in Ambegaon taluka, seized items worth Rs 10.4 lakh including liquor

Pune: The team of State Excise department foiled the sale of prohibited foreign liquor from Goa which was brought for sale. The excise department took action and confiscated liquor worth Rs 1.62 lakh and a total items of worth Rs 10.4 lakh.The action was taken in the limits of Mauje Pondewadi village in Ambegaon.

The name of the accused is Satish Nanabhau Ranpise.

The State Excise Department received information from the close source that foreign liquor will be brought for sale. Accordingly, the Excise department of Narayangaon Division started checking the suspected vehicles at Pondewadi village in Ambegaon. The team found a Jute Bag in one four – wheeler. Therefore, when the vehicle was checked on suspicion, alcohol was found in it. Liquor manufactured in the State of Goa but prohibited for sale in Maharashtra as well as prohibited liquor were found in the vehicle. 243 bottles of banned liquor containing liquor worth Rs 1.62 Lakh were recovered. Along with this stock of liquor, the excise team also seized four-wheeler and a mobile phone in the possession of the driver, worth Rs 10.4 lakh. A case was registered against Satish Ranpise and other unknown persons.

The action was initiated by the Excise department under the guidance of Pune Superintendent Charanjit Singh Rajput, Deputy Superintendent Yuvraj Shinde, S.R.Patil, Santosh Jagdale by Narayangaon division inspector Sunil Gaikwad, Excise department inspector Sameer Patil along with B.S.Ghuge, M.S.Dhoka, S.F.Thengde, Praveen Deshmukh, Jaydas Date, Sandeep Surve, Mukund Pote, Sharad Handgar.

The seized liquor is banned for sale in Maharashtra. However, it was been brought to Pune for sale, but the Excise department took action and foiled the plot.

Superintendent of Excise department Charanjit Singh Rajput said that the action will continue.
