Pune: Recently, a case has been registered against four individuals, including a builder, for orchestrating a housing loan fraud at South Indian Bank’s Vishrantwadi branch in Pune. The incident occurred between February and March 2019, as revealed by a complaint lodged by Bank Manager Atish Krishna Pillai on Monday at Vishrantwadi Police Station.
The accused have been identified as Pratik Padmakar Kharade from Kiwale, Pune, along with Devendra Raju Gaikwad and Naresh Jagannath Bhandari from Khadki Bazar and Ghorpadi village, respectively. The trio, associated with S.K. Developers, faces charges under IPC sections 420, 419, 468, 471, and 472.
According to police reports, the accused, Davendra Gaikwad, Raju Gaikwad, and Naresh Bhandari, acted as selling agents in the fraudulent scheme. The alleged conspiracy involved submitting forged documents, including an Agreement to Sell, with counterfeit signatures and stamps to secure a housing loan from the bank.
The accused successfully deceived the bank by presenting these false documents as genuine, resulting in the approval of a loan amounting to Rs 13 lakh and 22 thousand. Subsequently, a demand draft (DD) of Rs 12 lakh and 90 thousand was drawn in the name of Pratik Kharade, the proprietor of S.K. Developers.
The complainant mentioned that Pratik Kharade further exploited the situation by depositing the DD into his bank account, effectively defrauding the bank. The police authorities are currently engaged in an ongoing investigation to uncover additional details in this case.
