Pune-Solapur Road Safety Boost: RTO Survey Identifies Accident Prone Areas and Causes

Pune RTO Takes Proactive Steps to Enhance Safety on Pune-Solapur Road: Survey Completed

Pune, August 18: In a bid to address the escalating number of road accidents, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has conducted a comprehensive survey of the Pune-Solapur road. This initiative aims to identify accident-prone spots, causes of accidents, and other factors contributing to mishaps, with the ultimate goal of curbing accidents and ensuring safer road conditions.

Sanjeev Bhor, Deputy Commissioner of RTO Pune, highlighted the significance of this survey. He stated, “The Chairman of the Road Safety Committee and the District Collector instructed the Pune RTO to conduct a survey of the Pune-Solapur road. To fulfill this mandate, RTO officials, along with traffic police and representatives from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), have meticulously surveyed the entire Pune-Solapur road. They have identified areas with a high frequency of accidents and the underlying causes. Based on this survey, appropriate measures will be taken to reduce accidents. Starting from Monday, August 21, all concerned departments will initiate action based on the survey findings.”

The survey findings have underscored the need for immediate action in accident-prone areas spanning from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Uruli Kanchan. This exercise mirrors a similar survey conducted for the Pune-Nagar road recently. The comprehensive survey report will soon be submitted to relevant departments, paving the way for prompt action.

Several factors contributing to accidents on the Pune-Solapur road have been identified during the survey:

  • Encroachments on roads and footpaths
  • Unauthorized parking on the street
  • Damaged dividers at various locations
  • Vehicles entering the road through broken dividers
  • Lack of proper notice boards in crucial areas

In light of the survey findings, various suggestions have been proposed for effective remediation:

  • Installation of traffic signals at key intersections
  • Establishment of zebra crossings at critical junctions
  • Placement of road rumblers to deter encroachments
  • Removal of existing encroachments
  • Incorporation of clear and informative notice boards for motorists

The proactive approach taken by the Pune RTO in conducting this survey and initiating appropriate measures is expected to lead to improved road safety and fewer accidents on the Pune-Solapur road.
