Pune RPF’s “Tejaswini Squad”: Ensuring Safety for Women and Child Passengers on Train Journeys

Pune, August 22, 2023: In a significant step towards enhancing the safety of women and child passengers during train journeys, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Pune has introduced a dedicated squad known as the “Tejaswini Squad.” Launched on August 15, this specialized team is tasked with raising awareness about the railway helpline number 139 and the divisional safety control room’s WhatsApp number 7219613777.

The “Tejaswini Squad” consists of a female Assistant Sub Inspector, Poonam Sharma, and two other women RPF personnel, with Inspector Priti Kulkarni from Hadapsar overseeing the initiative. These officials are actively engaging with women passengers on trains running between Pune and Lonavala, particularly on routes like Deccan Express, Intercity Express, Sinhagad Express, and local trains.

To facilitate communication and feedback, a dedicated WhatsApp group has been established, where both concerned officials and women passengers are participants. This platform serves as a means for the RPF to interact with passengers and gather feedback, aiming to enhance safety measures across the Pune division. The “Tejaswini Squad” is also dedicated to creating awareness among female passengers about taking necessary precautions while traveling by train.

Women passengers are encouraged to reach out to this squad for any assistance they might require during their train journeys within the Pune division. The introduction of the “Tejaswini Squad” signifies the RPF’s commitment to ensuring the security and well-being of women and child passengers, thereby contributing to a safer and more comfortable train travel experience for all.
