Pune Readies Itself for Raksha Bandhan: PMPML Introduces 96 Additional Buses

As the festival of Raksha Bandhan approaches, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities are gearing up to accommodate the increased influx of commuters traveling to celebrate the occasion with their families. To ensure the convenience of passengers during this festive season, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has taken proactive measures by introducing extra buses on August 30, 2023.

Recognizing the surge in travel demand on Raksha Bandhan, the PMPML has decided to enhance its bus services. A total of 1,933 buses will be operational on this day, which includes an addition of 96 buses beyond the regular daily count of 1,837 buses. These supplementary buses will be accessible on various routes, with major terminals like Katraj, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Saswad, Hadapsar, Wagholi, Jejuri, Alandi, Bhosari, Talegaon, Rajgurunagar, and Dehu Road witnessing increased services.

In order to implement this initiative smoothly, the PMPML has taken several steps. Weekly offs for bus operators, drivers, and supervisory staff have been canceled for this period. Furthermore, designated authorities will oversee crucial operational locations to maintain effective control over transportation services. Schedules for bus operations on both Raksha Bandhan (August 30, 2023) and the subsequent day (August 31, 2023) have been adjusted accordingly to accommodate the festive rush.

With these preparations in place, Pune residents can expect a seamless and comfortable travel experience during the festival of Raksha Bandhan. The introduction of additional buses underscores PMPML’s commitment to facilitating convenient and reliable public transportation for the community during significant events.
