PUNE / SASWAD: Famous rangoli artiste Somnath Bhongle has created a huge 75 x50 foot collage of superstar Amitabh Bachchan by using 5,000 school books and 500 bags and sacks with the help of Principal of Purandar High School and Junior College Ismail Sayyad on the occasion of his 81st birthday and presented to him as a gift.
The collage was created on the grounds of Purandar education complex. Bhongle has been depicting various scenes from his movies through rangolis and especially 3D rangolis since the last few years. He also organises an exhibition of these 3D rangolis.
This year, he decided to do something different and prepared a collage by using educational paraphernalia in seven hours with the help of Mayur Dudhal, Supriya Dudhal, Abhishek Shinde, Avishkar Bhingle, Riya Bhongal. The students of Purandar educational complex gave school paraphernalia and helped in preparation of the collage.
Two thousand five hundred students of Purandar High School, Balvikas Mandir and Junior College and citizens had gathered to view the collage on Friday. Professor Keshav Kakde, Sandip Raut and Jagdish Shinde praised Bhongle’s creation.
“Earlier, I had prepared the Pandharpur wari in 3D rangoli which had been praised by warkaris, citizens and art lovers. I had also prepared a 3D rangoli on the staircase at Rahatani. I have been presented a national award by an organisation based in Goa for 3D rangolis,” said Somnath Bhongle, rangoli artiste, Saswad (Purandar taluka)
