Pune Railway Station Masters Stage Protest to Highlight Their Demands

Pune, 11th August 2023: In response to the directives from the Central Executive of the All India Station Master Association, a nationwide event called “Station Master Power Day” was observed across all divisions of Indian Railways today. The primary aim of this event was to draw attention to the challenges faced by station masters and expedite their resolution. A sit-in protest took place simultaneously in 68 divisions, underlining the urgency of addressing these issues.

In Pune, the event featured an inspiring speech by Dhananjay Chandratre, a respected figure within the railway community, who ignited the participants’ enthusiasm. The Zonal President, Ajay Sinha, provided effective leadership, ensuring the success of the day’s program. Prominent figures such as S K Mishra, the General Secretary, along with Gangadhar Sahu, Krishna Murari, Amit Verma, and others, delivered impactful speeches that resonated with the audience.

Approximately 60-70 station masters actively participated in the protest in Pune, engaging in constructive discussions with divisional officials. The response from the administration was positive and encouraging, reflecting a willingness to collaborate in resolving the concerns raised by the station masters.

Key Demands Presented by the Station Masters Include:

  1. Vacancy Reduction: A demand to eliminate vacancies for station masters, ensuring sufficient staffing levels for streamlined operations.
  2. MACP Benefits: The urgent implementation of Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) benefits to provide avenues for career advancement.
  3. Additional Staff: The appointment of a second staff member at all stations to enhance operational efficiency and customer service.
  4. Improved Infrastructure: Provision of quality furniture at all stations to create a conducive working environment for station masters.
  5. Safe Drinking Water: Installation of RO water facilities at all stations to guarantee clean and safe drinking water for both passengers and staff.
  6. Supervisory Staff: The appointment of supervisory staff at all stations to effectively manage day-to-day operations.
  7. Timely Stipend Payments: Swift disbursal of stipends to employees appointed after 2016, ensuring financial support for all staff members.
  8. Implementation of Railway Board’s Directive: Prompt implementation of Railway Board’s letter number 155/2022 to address pertinent issues within the railway community.

The Station Master Power Day not only provided a platform for voicing concerns but also marked a constructive step towards fostering stronger collaboration between station masters and railway authorities. The event underscored the commitment of the All India Station Master Association in advocating for the well-being of station masters and the overall enhancement of the Indian Railways system.
