The Pune Railway Division has demonstrated remarkable financial growth in August 2023, solidifying its position as a key contributor to the Indian Railways. With a total passenger revenue of Rs 104.87 Crores during the month, the division achieved a remarkable 22% increase compared to August 2022 when it reported Rs 85.72 Crores in passenger revenue.
This impressive surge in revenue can be attributed to the significant rise in the number of originating passengers. In August 2023, the division recorded a staggering 28% increase in originating passengers, reaching a total of 49.02 Lakhs, compared to 37.3 Lakhs in August 2022.
Ticket Checking Revenue and Commercial Publicity:
The Pune Railway Division excelled not only in passenger revenue but also in ticket checking and commercial publicity. In August 2023, the division collected Rs 2.65 Crores in ticket checking revenue, showcasing a substantial 28% growth compared to the Rs 1.52 Crores reported in August 2022. Additionally, the division generated an impressive revenue of Rs 1.34 Crores from commercial publicity in August 2023, marking a remarkable 56% increase from the Rs 0.86 Crores reported in August 2022.
Goods Transportation:
The Pune Railway Division’s success extended to the transportation of goods. In August 2023, the division earned a total revenue of Rs 43.98 Crores from 167 goods trains. These goods trains included 68 carrying automobiles, 43 transporting petroleum products, and 26 loaded with sugar rakes.
Auto Transportation and Petroleum Products:
The Pune Railway Division achieved notable growth in auto transportation and petroleum products. The 68 rakes of automobiles loaded in August 2023 generated revenue of Rs 12.03 Crores, marking a significant 51% increase compared to the previous year when there were 67 such rakes, generating revenue of Rs 10.65 Crores. Similarly, the 43 rakes transporting petroleum products in August 2023 brought in revenue of Rs 13.64 Crores, reflecting a remarkable 61% increase from August 2022 when there were 40 such rakes, and revenue stood at Rs 8.45 Crores.
