Pune Rail Division Set to Expand with Inclusion of Daund Section

In a significant development, the ministry of railways has issued a circular announcing the addition of the Daund section to the Pune division, effective April 1. The decision, motivated by operational requirements, will see all stations up to Ankai in Nashik district being integrated into the Pune division, including Ahmednagar and Shirdi. Currently, the Daund section is part of the Solapur division of railways.

Impact on Passenger Facilities: Indu Rani Dubey, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) for Pune, assured that the integration of the Daund section into the Pune division would not have any adverse impact on passenger facilities. The move aims to streamline operations and enhance the efficiency of the railway network in the region.

Supriya Sule’s Advocacy: Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, who had been actively advocating for the inclusion of the Daund section in the Pune division, expressed satisfaction with the decision. Sule emphasized the necessity of this integration, citing the frequent travel of employees, farmers, and students between Daund and Pune.

Future Connectivity and Operational Efficiencies: The integration of Daund into the Pune division is expected to facilitate better connectivity and operational efficiencies. The move aligns with the railway ministry’s efforts to optimize divisional boundaries for improved administration and service delivery.
