Pune Prepares for More Rainfall: Indian Meteorological Department Predicts Improving Conditions

Pune, August 29, 2023: The state of Maharashtra, including Pune, has been experiencing persistent rainfall over the past few days due to unfavorable atmospheric conditions. While the likelihood of rain continues this week, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a glimmer of hope by forecasting more positive conditions for rain in the following week.

The velocity of winds originating from the Arabian Sea has notably diminished, and the Bay of Bengal’s current conditions are not conducive to generating significant rain. Simultaneously, a low-pressure system has gained intensity, extending from South Karnataka to the Comorin region. In addition, cyclonic winds are sweeping across the East-Central Bay of Bengal.

Despite the ongoing week’s subdued precipitation, the upcoming month of September promises a slight increase in rainfall, providing a welcome change from the relatively drier August.

According to the latest predictions by the Meteorological Department, certain isolated areas across the state might witness light rainfall over the next eight days. While the current situation calls for continued vigilance, the anticipated improvement in atmospheric conditions offers a ray of optimism for those bracing against the recent rainy spell in Pune and its surroundings.
