Pune Police Tighten Grip on Bars and Rooftop Restaurants with Stricter Regulations

In a concerted effort to enhance order and safety, Pune police have escalated enforcement measures on bars and rooftop restaurants across the city. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has issued a clear warning that guidelines outlined in Section 144 will be strictly enforced with immediate effect.

Kumar emphasized the crucial need for adherence to designated operating hours, with establishments mandated to conclude operations by 1:30 am and outdoor speakers permitted only until 10 pm. Any violations of these regulations will face immediate and decisive action from law enforcement.

Sale of liquor outside permitted hours or without a valid license is strictly prohibited, with rigorous age verification measures in place. Establishments must notify the police at least 15 days in advance of any events involving DJs, artists, or foreign entertainers.

To bolster security, the installation of CCTV cameras is now mandatory in all such establishments, along with designated smoking areas. Citizen feedback will be considered during a 15-day review period before further decisions are made.

Security protocols have also been strengthened, with stringent criminal record checks mandated for bouncers. Hookah and shisha have been banned from these premises, with strict measures to prevent their use. The sale of tobacco products near educational institutions has also been prohibited to prioritize student well-being.

The police are resolute in ensuring the safety and tranquility of the city, and any violations of these regulations will be met with appropriate legal action.
