Pune Police Officer Caught Red-Handed: Assistant Inspector Nabbed by ACB for Accepting Bribe

Sangvi: In a significant turn of events, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunil Shahaji Jadhav (49), stationed at Sangvi Police Station, has been apprehended by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a 45-year-old woman. The bribe was purportedly intended to forestall legal actions stemming from a complaint lodged against her.

The incident in question revolves around a construction project situated in Pimple Saudagar. The complainant, a woman, had entered into an agreement with a construction entrepreneur named Karale. This contract outlined specific responsibilities, including the completion of construction work within a designated timeframe and the return of construction materials held by the complainant upon the project’s conclusion.

Allegedly, when the contractor, Karale, failed to meet the agreed-upon deadline, he insisted on the return of the construction materials from the complainant before the project was finalized. The complainant, however, declined, asserting that the materials would only be returned upon the project’s successful completion.

In response to this impasse, the contractor, Karale, filed a complaint against the woman at the Sangvi Police Station. In a surprising turn of events, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jadhav purportedly demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 to abstain from pursuing legal action against the woman and prevent the filing of a case. Consequently, they negotiated an agreement, settling on a bribe amount of Rs 50,000, payable in two installments.

Promptly responding to the complaint, the ACB orchestrated a sting operation today. It was during this operation that Assistant Sub-Inspector Jadhav was apprehended while receiving the first installment of the bribe, amounting to Rs 25,000, from the complainant woman at the Pimple Saudagar police chowky. He was caught red-handed by ACB officers.

A case is currently being registered at Sangvi Police Station, and further legal action is expected to follow in light of these developments.
