In a significant breakthrough, Pune police apprehended a notorious history-sheeter, Ganesh Babulal Pardeshi, on March 8, for duping multiple individuals under the guise of facilitating job opportunities in defence services. Pardeshi, a resident of NIBM Road, Kondhwa, was attempting to flee to Nepal when he was arrested from Salunkhe Vihar.
The accused, previously employed as a driver at the Southern Command area, targeted job aspirants and their parents in Kondhwa and nearby regions. Pardeshi exploited his position and claimed to have influential connections with high-ranking army officials, convincing victims that he could secure employment opportunities for them.
Police investigations revealed that Pardeshi succeeded in swindling ₹8,32,000 from job aspirants by issuing fraudulent joining letters. This is not the first time he has faced charges related to job fraud; his criminal history includes similar cases.
Santosh Sonawane, Senior Police Inspector at Kondhawa police station, explained, “The accused convinced people that he had good relations with his seniors and by using it, he could help them get a job.” Acting on a tip-off about Pardeshi’s location, the police set a trap in NIBM Road and successfully apprehended the accused.
Pardeshi faces charges under sections 406, 420, 464 (a), 465, 468 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for his fraudulent activities.
