Pune Police MCOCA Action

Pune: In a shocking incident that unfolded on October 30 at 2:00 a.m. in Ghorpade Peth, Anil Ramdev Sahu, 35, was fatally shot during a home attack by a few accused. The Police Commissioner, Ritesh Kumar, swiftly responded, invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the main accused, Navnath alias Nabya Suresh Lodha, and his three accomplices.

This marked the 89th instance of MCOCA being applied under Commissioner Ritesh Kumar’s tenure, reflecting a vigorous crackdown on organised crime gangs in Pune.

The accused, including gang leader Navnath Lodha (37), Rohit Sampat Komkar (33), Ganesh Ulhasrao Shinde (41), and Aman Deepak Pardeshi (29), were arrested after a thorough investigation. In this case, police filed charges against the accused under IPC 302 and 34, and the Arms Act, along with the Maharashtra Police Act, highlighted the severity of the crime.

Navnath Lodha, with a long history of serious offences, had orchestrated a series of crimes in the area to establish gang dominance and instill terror. The gang’s rap sheet includes forcible theft, robbery, intimidation, attempted murder, unlawful assembly, causing harm, and possession of weapons. Despite previous preventive actions, the gang persisted in its criminal activities.

Regarding this, senior police inspector Sunil Mane of Khadak Police Station submitted a proposal, endorsed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Circle One Sandeep Singh Gill, to initiate MCOCA proceedings against these accused. Additional Commissioner of Police Western Regional Division Pravin Kumar Patil approved the proposal after a thorough examination of the documents and evidence provided.

Ashok Dhumal, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Faraskhana Division, is leading the ongoing investigation, ensuring a comprehensive examination of the case.

The collaborative effort involves Commissioner of Police Ritesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner of Police Western Regional Division Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Dhumal, Senior Police Inspector Sunil Mane, Police Inspector Crime Sampatrao Raut, Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Jadhav, Police Sub-Inspector Atul Bankar, and Police Constables Mahesh Pawar, Nitin Jadhav, and Swapnil Bandal.
