Pune: The Pune police apprehended notorious criminal Aditya Nitin Baddap, who has been charged under sections of the MPDA (an acronym of the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, and Dangerous Persons) Act. This is the 64th such action taken by Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar under the MPDA Act since taking charge.
According to the police, Aditya Baddap is a habitual lawbreaker who has been regularly involved in anti-social activities. 22-year-old Aditya Ashok Baddap, a resident of Sapras Line Bazar, East Khadki, has regularly been engaged in serious crimes and criminal activities that span from forcible theft and injury to the possession of illegal weapons like machetes, swords, and iron rods in Chandannagar, Khadki, and the Vishrantwadi area.
Astonishingly, he has been charged with five serious crimes in the last five years, leaving the city on edge. His terror has been so evident in the area, as citizens would not dare to complain about him openly, fearing the potential loss of life and property from him.
Taking note of it, a proposal to invoke the MPDA Act against Aditya Baddap was submitted to Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar. After scrutinising every detail and accompanying documents, the Police Commissioner has ordered the detention of the accused in Nagpur Central Jail for one year under the MPDA Act.
This successful operation was carried out by a team of Senior Police Inspector Dattatray Bhapkar of Vishrantwadi Police Station, Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedre of PCB, police officers, and other team.
