Pune Police Busts Counterfeit Currency Ring: Six Arrested in Pimpri-Chinchwad

In a significant crackdown, the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have apprehended six individuals for their involvement in printing and circulating counterfeit currency notes amounting to ₹70,000 in denominations of ₹500. The accused, identified as Ruhtik Chandramnani Khadse, Suraj Yadav, Akash Dhangekar, Suyog Salunkhe, Tejas Ballal, and Pravan Gahvane, were taken into custody following an operation led by the Dehu Road police.

Tejas Ballal, responsible for organizing raw materials and executing the printing process, operated alongside Suraj Yadav, who was involved in the design aspect. Suyog Salunkhe managed a crucial machine in the counterfeiting process, while Ruhtik Chandramnani Khadse, holding an IT diploma, was in charge of delivering the fake currency. The arrest unfolded after the police set up a strategic trap following a tip-off. The initial capture of Khadse led to the subsequent arrests of the other individuals on Sunday and Monday.

According to a senior Dehu Road police officer, the accused orchestrated the procurement of raw materials from multiple sources and acquired a used printing machine from Appa Balwant Chowk. The seized items, with an estimated value of ₹2 lakh, include a printing press and various raw materials.

The accused are facing charges under Section 489 (c) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to the possession of forged or counterfeit currency or banknotes, along with Section 34. This operation showcases the police’s commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining the integrity of the currency system.
