Pune: Police Bust Prostitution Racket in Hinjawadi, Rescuing Two Women

In a commendable operation carried out on June 21st, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crime Branch successfully dismantled a prostitution racket operating under the guise of a massage center in Hinjawadi. During the operation, two women who were victims of this illegal activity were rescued, and the owner of the massage center now faces legal consequences.

The mastermind behind this illicit operation, identified as Rahul Navnath Kangane (28) from Latur district, was found to be running the prostitution business under the name “Luminous SPA,” located on the second floor of Suratwala Mark Plaza in Hinjawadi.

The police received credible information regarding the ongoing prostitution activities at Luminous SPA, prompting them to deploy an undercover officer to gather evidence and verify the claims. Once the information was confirmed, a meticulously planned operation was executed, leading to a successful raid on the premises of the prostitution establishment. During the raid, two women who were victims of this exploitative operation were rescued from their plight.

Kangane, the orchestrator of the prostitution ring, now faces charges under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act 1956, as well as Section 370 (3) of the Indian Penal Code. These charges reflect the seriousness of the offense and highlight the commitment of law enforcement authorities in combating human trafficking and protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals.

The rescue of these two women from the clutches of the prostitution racket is a significant accomplishment for the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and a step forward in the fight against such illegal activities. The operation serves as a stern warning to those involved in human trafficking that their actions will not go unpunished.

It is crucial to continue efforts to raise awareness about the perils of human trafficking and provide support to survivors. The collaboration between law enforcement agencies, NGOs, and the community is vital in eradicating this heinous crime and ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crime Branch’s successful operation in Hinjawadi sends a strong message that illegal activities will not be tolerated, and those responsible will be held accountable under the law. The victims’ rescue provides them with an opportunity to rebuild their lives and move forward towards a brighter and more secure future.
