In a proactive move to address the persistent traffic challenges in Pune, the Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar and Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar are set to conduct a joint inspection of 41 chowks (junctions) and 30 accident-prone areas. This collaboration aims to streamline traffic flow and enhance safety measures across the city.
The selected junctions include pivotal locations such as Pune University, Wagholi Junction, Katraj Chowk, Mundhwa Chowk, Hadapsar Gadital Chowk, Khadi Machine Chowk, Warje, Lohegaon Chowk, Vishrantwadi Chowk, among others. The inspection is part of a broader initiative to identify and address traffic congestion at key points in Pune.
A joint meeting convened at the Pune Police Commissioner’s office brought together officials from both the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Police to discuss the pressing issue of traffic congestions. The collaborative effort seeks to combine resources and expertise to find effective solutions.
During the meeting, comprehensive presentations were made on the existing traffic problems in the city. The discussion focused on identifying necessary measures to alleviate congestion and improve the overall traffic situation. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar responded to the presentations by instructing police officers to promptly implement the suggested measures.
Furthermore, a system for reporting the outcomes of the implemented measures was established, with a requirement to submit a detailed report in the subsequent meeting. The joint inspection of the 41 junctions and 30 accident-prone areas is expected to provide valuable insights and contribute to the development of strategic plans to enhance traffic management in Pune.
