Pune: The Pune district has retained its first place in settling the highest number of cases in the State in the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday. As many as 1,10,192 cases were settled in the Lok Adalat. A settlement charge amounting to Rs 396.02 crore was recovered.
The Lok Adalat was organized by Pune District Legal Services Authority (PDSLA) Secretary Sonal Patil under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge and PDSLA Chairman Shyam Chandak. As many as 133 panels were appointed to sort out cases in the pre-litigation and post-litigation stages. The number of panels was also the highest in the state, said Secretary Patil.
Rs 396 crore awarded
As many as 2,16,086 pre-litigation cases were presented before the Lok Adalat. Of them 79,956 were resolved and a settlement charge of over Rs 76.21 crore was recovered. As many as 72,477 pending cases were presented, out of which 30,236 were settled and a settlement charge of over Rs 319.81 crore was collected.

The Pune District Legal Services Authority has continued its tradition of being in the forefront in resolving cases in the State.
