Pune: In an appalling display of misconduct, a 20-year-old girl hailing from the Loni Kalbhor locality found herself pursued and physically molested by the accused after she decided to cease communication with him. This disturbing incident came to light after a young girl bravely decided to come ahead and lodge a complaint against the accused at Loni Kalbhor Police Station.
According to the police, the victim and accused, Ankush Rajaram Phate (age 35, a resident of Vadki, Taluka Haveli), initially connected on the online social media platform Instagram. After that, they started talking to each other, which resulted in a loving relationship between the two. Taking undue advantage of it, the accused borrowed ten thousand rupees from the girl, citing different reasons.
However, their unconvincing relationship didn’t last for long after the girl learned about his pre-existing marriage. Stunned by this revelation, she then decided to cease contact with him, blocking him everywhere.
Enraged by this, the accused started chasing the girl daily on her way to school from home and return, convincing her to come back into a relationship. Astonishingly, this went on for four months. On Friday afternoon, at around 2.30 p.m., Ankush crossed the limit and molested the young girl on the road. He went on to verbally abuse her.
In this case, a complaint has been registered at the Loni Kalbhor Police Station under IPC 354, 354 D, and 506. Further investigation is underway under Assistant Police Inspector Khairnar.
